With experience ranging from Congress to the campaign trail to the press and media, Kay King provides the firm’s international clients with up-to-date information and insightful strategy for working and liaising within the US federal government. Most recently, Kay served as Director of the Office of Inter-Parliamentary Affairs, a position to which she was appointed by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), where she coordinated the Speaker’s meetings with foreign government officials and assisted members of Congress with international travel and exchange meetings. Prior to that, she was the senior policy advisor for the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and for Rep. Tom Lantos (D-CA), where she developed legislative strategy for bills and resolutions on foreign affairs, human rights, health care and other issues. Her other experience on Capitol Hill includes serving as Chief of Staff to former Rep. Richard Swett (D-NH) and as a professional staff member on the Employment and Housing Subcommittee for the Committee on Government Operations (now Government Oversight).
An accomplished writer, Kay has authored numerous articles in scholarly journals and presented testimony and papers on topics ranging from human rights to political campaigns. She is the recipient of numerous awards, fellowships and recognitions, including the Gold Cross of Merit from the Republic of Hungary, and is a member of the National Advisory Council for the Marriott School of Management and George Romney Institute of Public Management at Brigham Young University. Kay has a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of California – Los Angeles.
