Christy Clark is a national security and illicit finance expert with more than ten years of experience working in Washington, both on Capitol Hill and in the executive branch. She lends critical subject-matter expertise to the Podesta Group's clients, drawing on her knowledge of US and international sanctions, anti-money laundering and other financial regulatory issues, foreign policy, defense and intelligence, among other areas.
Christy joined the Podesta Group from the Treasury Department, where she served in both the Bush and Obama administrations as the Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence (TFI). In that capacity, she helped execute the Treasury's national security mission, including the development and implementation of financial strategies to combat national security threats, respond to foreign policy challenges and protect the international financial system from abuse. Those strategies utilized the department's extensive economic and trade sanctions and financial regulatory authorities. Prior to her service in the Treasury Department, Christy served as the foreign policy and defense advisor to Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ), managing the national security portfolio for his office and serving as the senator's chief advisor in that area. She began her career with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, focusing on a broad range of regional foreign policy and strategic issues. Christy recently earned her Juris Doctorate from George Washington University Law School.
