Katie Beck draws on her experience in the print and broadcast media to help Podesta Group clients with advocacy campaigns and coalition management. As the firm’s point person for event design and production, she brings innovative concepts to life to promote client agendas. She also directs the firm’s marketing efforts.Skilled at crafting strategic messages and memorable experiences, Katie knows how to deliver an inspired event. When Susan G. Komen for the Cure was looking to generate some buzz, Katie painted the Newseum “pink” with nearly 1,000 breast cancer survivors and champions. She has also produced a documentary featuring five Nobel Laureates to help echo the need for basic science research, and has helped get folks teeing off on Capitol Hill to promote golf as a vital industry that employs millions of Americans.Before joining the Podesta Group, Katie was a general assignment reporter for the Medill News Service and a Washington, DC, correspondent for KMID-TV and KNOE-TV. Prior to this, after completing the NBC Page Program, she served as a production assistant and acting associate producer at MSNBC. Katie was also a surrogate coordinator at the 2008 Republican National Convention and hit the trail in her home state of Ohio as a volunteer for Senator John McCain’s (R-AZ) presidential campaign.Born in Texas but raised a Midwesterner, Katie grew up in Cincinnati, OH. She has a BA from Vanderbilt University and a master’s from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. She is a volunteer with Horton’s Kids, an organization that provides mentoring to children from DC’s most at-risk community, and is active with the Junior League of Washington. She also serves on the board of the Trust for the National Mall's L'Enfant Society.
